Power Hour is an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members at every age to become self-directed learners. The club provides the tools, resources, mentors and encouragement needed to help youth achieve academic success.
This fun and exciting program, sponsored by Bank of America and Gap Foundation, prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through Career Launch, Club teens 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.
Summer Brain Gain is a fun, educational program that aims to prevent summer learning loss and keep kids on track for the coming school year.
GOOD CHARACTER & CITIZENSHIP
Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation.
The Boys & Girls Club partners with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Mid-Maine to provide 1-to-1 mentoring services to youth who could benefit from a relationship with a positive mentor. Youth are matched with a local college student, allowing them to receive support, guidance, encouragement, and a positive role model as they learn to become confident and caring members of their family, school and community.
In The Club, members hold different events in the community to promote the Teen Programs and encourage their peers to take advantage of all the club has to offer them. Members frequently use the Bangor Housing gym for fun group games and team building exercises. The Club is a fun safe place for teens to hang out on Friday evenings.
Triple Play is a program that strives to improve the overall health of Club members by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships. During Triple Play, youth will engage in physical activities through sports, team building exercises, outdoor education, physical exercises and games.
Good Shepherd Food Bank sponsors the Summer Lunch Program at select locations in the Bangor area to help feed the growing number of children who rely on the free and reduced school lunch program. Bangor Housing is a site for children in our area where we serve a nutritious lunch as well as provide engaging activities such as reading, art, sports and more! The program runs Monday-Friday from 12-1pm for the entire summer.
