Result: Young people graduate from high school ready for college, trades, military or employment.

Power Hour is an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members at every age to become self-directed learners. The club provides the tools, resources, mentors and encouragement needed to help youth achieve academic success.

Through Project Learn, Club staff use all the areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for these high-yield learning activities, including leisure reading, writing activities, discussions with knowledgeable adults, helping others, homework help, tutoring and games that develop young people’s cognitive skills. Project Learn also emphasizes parent involvement as well as collaboration between Club and school professionals.

With MyFuture.net, club members can access over 125 Boys & Girls Club program activities in such areas as STEM, leadership and the arts. Youth and teens can learn new skills, connect with their friends, and earn recognition and rewards in a safe and fun online environment.

DIY Stem is a hands-on, activity-based STEM curriculum which connects youth aged 9 to 12 to science themes they encounter regularly.  It includes five modules: Energy and Electricity, Engineering Design, Food Chemistry, and Science of Sport.

Good Character & Citizenship

GOOD CHARACTER & CITIZENSHIP

Result: Young people are engaged in their community and model strong character.

The Teen Center is a safe place for youth in grades 6-12 to relax, learn, have fun and access opportunities. The Teen Center offers a mix of structured activities including life skills (financial literacy, career exploration), the arts, and health and wellness, as well as down time and a comfortable place for youth to connect with peers.

SMART Moves is designed to help young people develop healthy decision making attitudes and skills as well as social-emotional wellness. 

Healthy Lifestyles

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

Result: Young people adopt a healthy diet, practice healthy lifestyle choices and make a lifelong commitment to fitness.

With Triple Play we improve the overall health of Club members by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching good nutrition and helping develop healthy relationships.

BGCB participates in the Summer Food Service Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which allows us to serve a nutritious breakfast and lunch during our camp day and an afterschool meal, which we call "Super Snack," during the school year. 

Workforce Readiness

WORKFORCE READINESS

Result: Every youth graduates high school with basic life skills and a plan for their future.

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility among teens by building their basic money management skills. Teens gain useful knowledge and skills on various aspects of financial literacy, including budgeting, saving & investing, credit & debt, entrepreneurship and planning for college.

Junior Staff

Junior Staff is a small-group program that assists Club members in grades 9-12 in exploring a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. The program ends with a paid in-club work-based learning experience. 

This program prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through Career Launch, Club teens embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.

The partnership between JMG and our club provides teens with workforce engagement and readiness activities that allow them to explore potential career paths for their future.
